One of three large scale paintings inspired by the wetlands of the southern US. This piece was inspired by a recent visit to the Everglades, and my 15+ years of living in Florida. My time in Florida was what set me up on a dualistic path of artist and naturalist. While I studied to receive my Master Naturalist certification in Florida, we talked extensively of the Florida panther, though none of us had ever seen one (or even sign of one) I always enjoyed knowing they were still out there, like ghosts among us. The Florida panther is joined by a Barred owl, a bird I have been fortunate enough to have several encounters with, but my favorite was in Florida.

Original watercolor painting on Yupo paper (watercolor and pastel)

Approx 60” wide by 65” tall (exact dimensions for height can be slightly adjusted once final trim is complete)

How much will it cost to ship an original painting? The shipping cost will vary depending on how the artwork is mounted and where the painting is being shipped to. I will send a shipping quote after purchase. Alternately, I can arrange a studio pick-up if you are local to Raleigh, NC area.

How do I frame/hang this painting? Due to the size of the piece, framing can be very costly. I prefer to use hanging bars for these paintings. This involves placing a few small holes at the top and bottom of the painting, and threading a nut and bolt through two small pieces of wood. You can see a hanging bar example on the red wolf painting. If you would like hanging bars, please leave a note at checkout. Thanks!

Will the color match exactly what I see in the photos? Sadly, the short answer is I cannot guarantee the colors will match exactly what you see on your device or computer. Screen brightness can alter colors, and my studio has fairly low lighting. If you are local, and would like to see a piece in person, reach out to schedule a studio visit

What is Yupo paper? Yupo is a “treeless” polypropylene paper, so it is surprisingly strong. The watercolor “floats” on the surface which creates the transparent effect you see in the paintings.
