“Resurgence of the Red Wolf”
“Resurgence of the Red Wolf”
One of three large scale paintings inspired by the wetlands of the southeastern US. This piece was inspired by a visit to the Alligator River NWR. While I was there, I was able to see red wolves, and I noticed how many harriers also shared this space with them. Harrier are ground nesters, so it was another interesting predator and nesting bird encounter. A photo I used as reference for the wolf in this painting was provided by the amazing guide @wildlifewithaspen.
Original watercolor painting on Yupo paper (watercolor and pastel)
Approx 48” wide by 72” tall
How much will it cost to ship an original painting? The shipping cost will vary depending on how the artwork is mounted and where the painting is being shipped to. I will send a shipping quote after purchase. Alternately, I can arrange a studio pick-up if you are local to Raleigh, NC area.
How do I frame/hang this painting? Due to the size of the piece, framing can be very costly. I prefer to use hanging bars for these paintings. This involves placing a few small holes at the top and bottom of the painting, and threading a nut and bolt through two small pieces of wood. You can see a hanging bar example at the top and bottom of this painting. If you would like hanging bars, please leave a note at checkout. Thanks!
Will the color match exactly what I see in the photos? Sadly, the short answer is I cannot guarantee the colors will match exactly what you see on your device or computer. Screen brightness can alter colors, and my studio has fairly low lighting. If you are local, and would like to see a piece in person, reach out to schedule a studio visit
What is Yupo paper? Yupo is a “treeless” polypropylene paper, so it is surprisingly strong. The watercolor “floats” on the surface which creates the transparent effect you see in the paintings.
